Ellis Island - A Dream Lived

This page is dedicated to the millions of immigrants and their families whose lives were dramatically changed by venturing out from their homeland, traveling thousands of miles across the Atlantic, enter this port and passing through its doors.  They went out and beyond into a new world where hopes, dreams, and visions played in a key role in molding a diverse nation of brave souls.
During the years Ellis Island was in operation, from 1892-1924, there were more than twenty million individual stories similar that would eventually be shared with family and friends and passed on to others. Whether passengers or crew, first class or steerage, the voyage was an unforgettable experience. This section depicts examples of the trip in order to paint a more vivid picture of what was considered during those times an average voyage.
